An In Colourful Company Colour Walk

An In Colourful Company Colour Walk

I've always loved colour. From the lime green walls in my teenage bedroom to the mustard yellow jumpsuit that I bought a few weeks ago - I just can't resist it.

So I was delighted to find myself on a Colour Walk through Glasgow last weekend. It was hosted by 'In Colourful Company' - a community of colour-lovers, founded by Toni Bee. The actual walk was led by Nikki (Nikki McWilliams) and Kim (Finest Imaginary), who did a fantastic job showing everyone the colourful sights of Glasgow. Thank you!

We met at Partick Station, where the most amazing goody bags were given out (more about them later), and then we set off to our first stop which was SWG3. On the way we received several toots from cars passing us on the Clyde Expressway - I guess that we must have looked like a colourful rainbow snaking our way along the pavement.

The second stop was The Hidden Lane. I had only discovered this amazing place a few weeks ago and I was delighted to be back. As we entered the Lane, I remember a bemused looking young guy remarking 'hunners o' women dressed like a rainbow?'. It made me smile.

After a longish walk into town, the draw of Tantrum Doughnuts on Gordon Street proved too hard to resist (it was by now almost 3pm and we were hungry!) and we had an unplanned stop there to re-fuel.

The last stop was couple of murals in the city centre and (much to my daughter's delight) it was finally time to bash the giant Irn Bru pinata!

Now on to the the goody bags...

They were a variety of colours, but I manged to get this vibrant pinky / orange colour which I love. The design featured hand-lettering by Rachel of Oh No Rachio! and they were full of fantastic items such as pin badges, cards, stickers and biscuits, from some fab small creative businesses including:

- The Happy Colour Shop - Spilth Design - Finest Imaginary - Hello Sunshine
- Laura Girling Illustration - Nikki's Supply Store - Liz Harry - Aspie Doodles
- LaLaLand Uk - Lumi Wau - Nikki McWilliams - Nicola Fernandes - Haveago Crafter
- XOXO Designs by Ruth - Leah Halliday - The Paper Lobster
- Foto Maki Photography - Rachel Powell

This is just a small selection of the items in the bag - by the time I went to take this photo, many of the things had already been 'claimed' by my younger daughter!

The Glasgow Colour Walk was an amazing event and if you ever get the change to join one (they are held in various cities round the UK), I would really recommend it. It was relaxed, inclusive and full of colour. What more could you ask for?

Edit: These colour walks aren't being held any longer, but there seems to be a colour walk at Spitalfields Market in London every month which looks good!
