In those long days between Christmas and New Year, 'Chrimbo Limbo' if you prefer, we're always looking for fun things to do to keep everyone occupied. For the last couple of years, we've taken the 40 minute drive from Glasgow to Greenock to do some colourful climbing at Ravenscraig Activity Centre.
It's an unassuming place on the outside, but once inside the climbing room is bright and cheery and you just want to get started straight away! Also in the same room is a cafe and a decent size soft play frame, so if you had younger children, they might prefer having fun in the soft play rather than climbing.
Each climbing session is an hour and ten minutes - make sure that you have suitable clothing and definitely wear a pair of trainers. Once you've got your harness on, you're free to start. There's a member of staff to hook you onto and off the ropes on each climbing wall and they give you hints and tips during your visit.
As well as lots of fun and quirky walls to climb, there's also a 'crane' to climb up and jump off, and a series of poles to walk up. The top pole is around 30ft high and very wobbly!
We've really enjoyed our visits there and would really recommend it. No climbing experience is needed and the staff will guide you all the way. You're definitely best to book in advance as there is a maximum number of 20 people per session and it would be disappointing to get there and not be able to climb.
We hope you have as much fun as we did!
